Kelvin is a South African that started his racing career in 2006 in Karting at the age of eight. Kelvin won two South African Karting Championships respectively in 2008 and 2010.

In 2011 Kelvin became the youngest ever driver to compete in a National Senior Circuit event at age 14. At the end of the 2011 season, Kelvin won the VW Polo Cup rookie championship and finished 3rd overall in his debut season in the series.


In 2012, Kelvin became South Africa’s youngest ever National champion at the age of 16 years and 128 days old when he won the Engen VW Polo Cup Championship. The previous record was held by his uncle, Etienne van der Linde, who won the South African National Formula Vee title in 1994 at the age of 16 years and 270 days.

In 2013 Kelvin won the Scirocco R-Cup Championship.

In 2014 Kelvin and his team mate René Rast won the ADAC GT Masters Championship.
